It is a concentration certification within the CCNP Security track, focused on Cisco Firepower and Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) technologies. It covers firewall management, access control policies, IPS, threat analysis, monitoring, and incident response operations. This certification is the most common concentration exam taken after Implementing and Operating Cisco Security Core Technologies (SCOR), especially for engineers working with Firewalls.
No, not required at all.
However, it is academically recommended to have a strong understanding of network security concepts, along with prior experience working with ASA or Firepower devices. Completing the 350-701 SCOR exam is considered an excellent foundation that helps you understand the content at a deeper level.
It is the ideal path to becoming a Firepower professional. It teaches you how to manage NGFW, IPS, threats, and VPNs on FTD, and strongly prepares you for CCNP Security or entry into the Cyber Defense field.
